ARACHNIDS
(Spiders & relatives, Australia & SE Asia)

Australia has a rich Arachnid fauna with most of the World’s Families represented, as well as a handful of small Families unique to the region. Among these are included some of the world’s most beautiful spiders – peacock jumping spiders. Not only are the colours of the mature males sensational, the semaphore courtship dancing techniques are as complicated as those of many birds.
When it comes to spider favouritism I think small and daytime activity, I think big eyes, I think colour, I think diversity of just about every aspect of spiderdom, I think behaviour, I think the largest Family of spiders on earth – Jumping Spiders. SE Asia has some of the most amazing spiders living today – these represent just a small sample of the gifts granted to me.
