Writer: David KnowlesDavid Knowles

INSECTS Australia New Guinea South East Asia, SE Asian Moths Drepanidae (Hooktip Moths, False Owlet Moths), South East Asian Cossidae (Carpenter Moths, Wood Moths, Goat Moths), South East Asian Lepidoptera (Moths)

This species is one of the more commonly encountered members of the family in SE Asia. It extends from India to north Queensland. Not surprising that it is so successful as females have been recorded to be carrying up to 60,000 tiny eggs and depositing these on a wide variety of hosts. Like all members of this family the pupa is left partially extruded from trunks and branches
