SE Asian Moths Drepanidae (Hooktip Moths, False Owlet Moths)
One group of this Family have opted away from blatant camouflage to white satin with pearly reflections. This appears to the human eye to highlight them though when viewed through the UV sensitive eyes of many diurnal bird eyes the story may well be different. I imagine, after a tropical shower, that water droplets can sometimes coalesce to form a small ‘puddle’ on a leaf surface. The filtered sun comes out and falls on the puddle which then behaves like a prism reflecting the colours of the rainbow which shift and sparkle as clouds pass across the sun. Imagine your an insect predator confronted with thousands of sparkling leaf puddles within their territory. This is a confusing and complex visual environment in which to hunt
